  ASHOK DWAR

The magnificent and attractive Dwar has been constructed at the prime entry point of the Cantonment.

It is designed as a SHANTI STOOP with ASHOKA LAAT, hence it is named as Ashok Dwar which is a symbol of Satya and Ahimsa which is the soul of the country as well as it is the symbol of Ranikhet, the place is naturally and socially peaceful.

  VIJAY CHOWK

Marks the Kargil victory and other victories by Indian Armed Forces. It is a tribute to the war heroes of Indian Armed Forces.

Inaugurated by Naik Imliakum Aoa (awarded with Mahavir Chakra during Kargil war) on 27-07-2005.

  BANQUET HALL

Total population of Ranikhet is approx. 20,000 and it is surrounded by 4-5 bigger villages inhabited by approx. 10000 people. As there was no proper Banquet/Marriage Hall in Ranikhet, people were facing a lot of problems in arranging marriage/social gatherings/religious functions and all other seminars.

So now the Cantt. Board has developed a proper Banquet Hall which is exemplarily designed in respect of architectural technique.

Its capacity is approx. 500. Now residents of Ranikhet as well as tourists/visitors can arrange any function as per their requirements. It was inaugurated on 31-05-2006 by Mr. S. C. Nagpal, the Principal Director Defence Estates, HQ Central Command, Lucknow.

  WATER RESERVOIR

Cantt. Board is providing drinking water to the civil residents of Ranikhet i.e. approx. 14 thousand and for this purpose the Board was dependant on MES as well as Jal Nigam. The main source of drinking water is Devi Dhunga plant which is now taken over by the Board from the Jal Nigam since May 2005. The Board is also getting bulk water from the river Gagas through the MES. But the Board has constructed its own water reservoir of 1000 kl (in addition to two old water reservoir i.e. 500 kl and 400 kl respectively). Now the Board will not face any problem in water storage from Devi Dhunga source and Gagas source.

The Board has also tapped two natural springs below Jhoola Devi temple and by laying pipe lines of 2.5 km. The purest drinking water is stored at newly constructed water reservoir of 25 kl at Mall Road. The consumers of Mall road are supplied drinking water from this water reservoir.

  CANTT. DISPENSARY

Cantt. Board is maintaining a Dispensary facilitated with one RMO, one pharmacist, one Midwife, one Dai and other assisting staff. Previously the Dispensary was running in an old barracks building with less facilities, which was not sufficient for a proper dispensary.

Now the Board has shifted it in a new spacious building and it is now well equipped as well as well provided with sufficient medicines. Residents of Ranikhet are now getting easy medical facilities in the dispensary.

  TAXI STANDS

As Ranikhet is the centre tourist place in the Kumaon hills, approx. 500 vehicles are plying from this place to different places.

Very unfortunately there was no taxi stand in Ranikhet. Which was causing chronic traffic jam/hazard in the Bazaar area, as most of the vehicles were parked at the road side only.
Keeping in view the above problems the Board has developed two taxi stands :- one at KMOU Station for Nainital, Haldwani, Ramnagar road and the other at the Deolikhet for Almora, Kaushani, Dwarahat road.

These taxi stands are developed in a very systematic way having capacity of approx. 350 taxis. Now Ranikhet has got rid of old days of traffic hazards. One can now ply from one portion of the main market to other portion (approx 2 km) just within 5 minutes. Cantt. Board is imposing Rs. 10/- per taxi per day only as parking fee for parking of taxies through the annual contractor.
