It is very challenging to provide all civic facilities satisfactorily in a hill station of higher altitude like Ranikhet.  The Cantt Board is planning to improve the public amenities in all respect.  For this it will be tried to provide sufficient drinking water by executing the project related to water supply which is in progress. 

Rest of the public urinals & public latrines are being renovated which is pending since one decade.  All the main drains are being repaired.  A fresh duty chart will be prepared for sanitary purpose so that sanitary services can be provided regularly and without any hindrance.  Some vacant posts of safaiwalas will also be filled up by the Board so that satisfactory sanitary services can be provided.  The Board is  proposing to mechanise the sanitary services by way of purchasing of lifter for garbage containers.  Iron garbage containers are being provided in the Cantonment.  Fibre dustbins have been provided exclusively for separation of polythene.  The fogging machine will be used in a large scale during the year 2006-07.

By taking over the Devidhunga scheme of water supply and by tapping of natural source of water the Board is now saving} approx Rs. 15.00 lakh p.a. The collection of toll tax is privatized by the Board and parking fee is also imposed by the Board during 2003-04.  The process will be streamlined during the current year.  Triennial assessment of the properties will be started during the year.  Revised water rates will be collected after clearance of the Central Govt.  The Board hopes more revenue from teh bazari.  Dispute of user charges on cable operator will be sorted out by the Board as it is disputed after intervention of DM Almora.

The Ashiyana Park is already developed by Cantt. Board which is mainly Herbal Garden including children world.  The Greenland will be facilitated more in the current year.  Cantt. Board is also maintaining around 7 small parks  among which 6 are renovated and the rest 1 will be taken up during the year.  Cantt. Board is proposing to elaborate these small parks to the tune of fame of Ranikhet which is the tourist place of international fame.  Some other public improvement works will also be included during the course.

The Board is removing temporary encroachments periodically from the market area which are in form of temporary khokas, hawkers, pavement sellers etc. some encroachments were also removed during last year.  Some unauthorized constructions are already prosecuted in different courts.  These cases will be expedited regularly.

Presently there are total 94 unauthorised construction in this cantonment against whom action is in progress under different sections of Cantt. Act, 1924 as well as at different courts.  All these unauthorized constructions are very old.  Only two of them are detected during the year 2005-06.  All these cases will be expedited during the year. 

There are total 90 Nos. of encroachments in this Cantonment which are very old. Proceedings under PPE Act against all these encroachments are pending since years.  Some cases are also pending in different courts.  It is planned to expedite action against all these encroachments during the year.
